LARGE KEELBOAT FUNDAMENTALS
(Basic Coastal Cruising)

Gain knowledge and build confidence for sailing a cruising keelboat!

Learn how to skipper an inboard auxiliary-powered sloop in moderate conditions. Classes are taught aboard our Hunter 33’ sloop based out of Salem Harbor.

• Review of Sailing Theory

• Cruising Sailboat Terminology

• Basic Boat Systems

• Auxiliary Engine Operation

• Docking Maneuvers

• Sail Trim

• Navigation Rules, Collision Avoidance

• Anchoring

• Weather Forecast Interpretation

• Safety and Seamanship

Maximum of 4 students per class

Skill / Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Sailor

Note: Private family classes available that can allow for a mix of sailing abilities!

We require that this course is preceded by a basic sailing course and/or the student has basic sailing capabilities and knowledge.

DAILY SCHEDULE:​

• Friday - Saturday - Sunday

• 10am - 1130am - Morning Land-Based Classroom

• 12:00pm - 5:00pm - On-the-water Class
