We are planning to deliver Intuition our Beneteau Oceanis 40’ from Salem Ma to Stuart Fl from ~ 30th October to ~ 12thNov, weather permitting.
Our current plan is to break the journey into 3 legs:
Salem to Norfolk Virginia.
56 miles ~ 9hr Sail from Salem to the Western end of the Cape Cod canal, where we overnight on a mooring at the Mass Maritime Academy.
392 miles ~ 2 ½ to 3 day direct sail from Mass Maritime to Little Creek Norfolk.
Stay 1 day in Little Creek, reprovision, refuel and water: 1st crew change.
Little Creek is approximately 4 miles, or a 10 min taxi ride from Norfolk International Airport which has direct flights to Boston.
Norfolk to Charleston SC.
400 miles ~ 2 ½ to 3 day direct sail from Little Creek to Charleson City Safe Harbor Marina.
Charleson City marina is approximately 13 miles, or a 20 min taxi ride from Charleston International Airport which has direct flights to Boston.
Stay 1 day in Charleston, reprovision, refuel and water: 2ndcrew change.
Charleston to Stuart Florida.
350 miles ~ 2 ¼ to 2 ½ day direct sail from Charleston City Safe Harbor to Jenson Beach, Stuart, Florida.
Jenson Beach is our Winter location for ‘Intuition’ and we have a mooring ball booked from the 12th November.
Jenson Beach is approximately 48 miles or 45 minutes north of West Palm Beach Airport, which is easy to get to from New England and the Boston Area with numerous low-cost flight options.
The direct sails will be just that, offshore in a straight line with three crew operating a 3hrs on, 6hrs off shift pattern for 24hr lookout coverage.
This will be a great practical learning experience for offshore techniques, navigation, and the liveaboard cruising lifestyle.

Passage planning and preparation, sail plans for different weather conditions, safety, navigation, use of a VHF Radio, handling emergencies, boat systems and troubleshooting, basic first aid, crossing international borders, advanced mooring/docking/anchoring techniques, weather, tides, use and towing of a dinghy, and much more.
